Wedding Hair Do's & Don'ts

Hello our Beautiful Readers,

Hope you are having a lovely week so far and are enjoying the beautiful weather. The way you style your hair will tie your whole look together on your big day. Which is why it’s important to know what will look best for your face shape and the look you are wanting. Which is why this week’s post we will be talking about the do’s and don’ts of bridal hair.

DO Have a Hair Trial! Regardless of whether the stylist has been doing your hair for ages or it’s someone new to you, your Wedding Day is one of the most important days of your life and you want to love how you look!

DO Be Completely Honest with Your Hairstylist! Explain the style of your wedding and reception and bring pictures or a sketch of your gown.  Pictures speak 1000 words so bring along pictures of hairstyles you like to make it easier in explaining what you want.  Be open to suggestions also, you might be surprised in what style you like on you.

DO Buy the Dress First! This will help because if it has a beautiful back you will probably want your hair up to show it off. Depending on the style of the dress some hairstyles will look better than others.

DO Take Pictures as You Go! Bring your Mom or Maid of Honor to the trial with you. Have her take pics of each option. Make sure to capture all angles…front, back, sides, even how it looks from above. This is your wedding day you will want every side to be your “best” side! These pictures will also help both you and your stylist remember exactly how you want your hair to look!

Do Wear a Button Down Shirt or Cute Robe On Your Wedding Day! This way when you put on your gown you won’t have to pull anything over your head.

DON’T Do Anything too Drastic! A month before your wedding is not the best time to try different hair colors or a different hair cut. Stay on your normal schedule and have any regular hair maintenance done a few weeks before your wedding day.

DON’T Forget about Hair Accessories! Bring your veil or any other accessories you are planning to have in your hair.  If you are planning on a flower crown or flowers in your hair, bring pictures of what you have in mind.

DON’T Use a Lot of Heat! You may want to stop using heat on your hair before your wedding so that there is not a lot of damage to it before the big day. Do try to use a conditioning mask about every other week depending on how damaged your hair is to help it become healthier again.

Don’t Forget About the Neckline of Your Gown! Whether it’s strapless, one shoulder or sweetheart, the top of your gown is a key shape to keep in mind when choosing a hairstyle. A full-on updo may feel (and look) too bare with a strapless dress.

No matter what style you choose, remember you will be the most beautiful lady in the room! Look for hairstyle inspiration, check out our pinterest board “Bridal Beauty” for some ideas.

Until next week our beautiful readers!
